JAL wants to be the first airline with a new environmental concept to reduce carbon emissions. Airlines around the world are trying to use modern aircraft to reduce fuel consumption and thus climate-damaging carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Therefore, in collaboration with Japanese fashion company Sumitomo, the airline is offering clothing rental for all visitors to the country arriving on Japan Airlines. The service is designed to encourage passengers to carry and check less baggage, thereby reducing fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions.
Passengers can now book the rental service in advance through the airline’s website. They must provide their flight details, clothing size, duration of stay and time of year at least one month in advance. The clothing is then sent directly to the passenger’s accommodation and is ready upon arrival in the country.
