Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, said in a statement that Shoukry traveled to Barcelona in order to attend a forum of the Union for the Mediterranean that will be held tomorrow.
During the meeting, a ministerial round table will be organized under the title ‘Events in Israel, Palestine-Gaza and the Region’.
In line to the event, the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee will meet with the Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares to present the results and decisions of the recent summit in Riyadh, the spokesman said.
Abu Zeid explained that Shoukry will then leave for New York, where he will attend, together with the members of the Committee, the periodic briefing held by the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East.
Both Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sissi and Shourky have repeatedly warned Israel about the massive displacement of Palestinians living in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire.
Recently, El-Sisi expressed his deep concern over the continuing deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Strip and praised Egypt’s efforts to put an end to the aggression.
