Prime Minister of Ethiopia receives Vice President of Cuba

Addis Ababa, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, received the Vice President of Cuba Salvador Valdés, who arrived in the country on an official visit.

According to Ahmed’s office, the two sides explored the strengthened cooperation in the medical sector, tourism services, education and sugar industries.

Valdés and the delegation accompanying him also visited the headquarters of the African Union, where they were welcomed by the vice president of the Commission of the African political organization, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, who commented on social networks that they addressed ways to strengthen the historical cooperation between both parties, mainly in the sectors of health care, education and disaster readiness.

The Cuban leader made a first stop on Sunday in Addis Ababa to pay tribute to the 163 Cubans who fell during the Ogaden war. There he expressed that both countries forged a foolproof relationship, the result of which are the five thousand Ethiopian students who have graduated in Cuba.

In a subsequent meeting with a representation of Ethiopian students, there were expressions of affection and gratitude towards Cuba and the experiences during the years of studies and the commitment to continue supporting the Cuban Revolution.

The official Cuban delegation accompanying the Vice President is composed by the First Vice Minister of Public Health, Tania Margarita Cruz, and the Deputy Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ángel Villa Hernández.
