According to Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning, it is even more important that given the volatile international situation and slow economic recovery, the event, scheduled for Wednesday, November 22, strengthens partnership and contributes to development positively.

“China expects that the virtual summit can reach consensus and send positive signals with that purpose,” Mao added.

During the group’s previous summit in India in September, Li Qiang called for further economic globalization and advocated for unity, cooperation, and inclusiveness.

The Chinese prime minister also urged the group to take actions as partners in promoting global economic recovery by coordinating macroeconomic policies to instill confidence and boost global growth.

The G20 brings together the world’s largest and systemically important economies, 19 countries, and the European Union.

According to official figures, in general, G20 members account for 85 percent of global Gross Domestic Product and two-thirds of the world’s population.
