In statements to the press from the CNE headquarters, the president of the Electoral Branch, Elvis Amoroso, reported that the 800 core voting centers enabled throughout the country will remain open beyond 4:00 p.m. local time due to the influx of people who came to vote.
The premises will remain open until the last person who took to the streets to vote on this historic day does not vote and “is still in that line,” he stated.
Amoroso said he was “deeply proud” of the Venezuelan people who came out again to tell the world “Venezuela united, what it wants is peace, tranquility and harmony.”
Images broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión showed throughout the day extensive queues and a large influx of people towards the voting centers set up in Caracas and other states of the South American nation.
The vast majority of those interviewed assured they were facing a safe, easy and quick process to answer Yes or No to the five questions of the popular consultation.
For this electoral rehearsal, the CNE installed 2,322 tables and 2,300 machines, explained days ago the national coordinator of the Venezuela Todo campaign command, Jorge Rodríguez.
Voters could go to vote this Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time at any center.
In statements released through social networks, President Nicolás Maduro described the call as impressive and aimed to remind him of the referendum for the Constituent Assembly because of “the beauty with which the people come out, firm, convinced and conscious, to carry out their simulation.”
He asserted that this is a true electoral process, “with guarantees, transparent and high technology.”
Maduro congratulated all the witnesses and members of the polling stations, the CNE and all the people who went out to vote and in a single color, yellow, blue and red, along with the eight stars of the national flag.
I can say today, peace will triumph again in Venezuela and December 3 is the date and in one voice we will tell the world that Venezuela is united in the defense of its historical rights,” he remarked.
