Costa Rican Ministry of Health warns about vaping in minors

San José, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) The Costa Rican Ministry of Health today warned the population about the use of electronic cigarettes in minors and recalled the provision that prohibits their sale to this age group.

In the last months, worldwide, there have been events linking the use of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS), Similar Systems Without Nicotine (SNNS) and electronic devices that use heated tobacco, and analogue technologies with lung diseases and even cases of death.

For this reason, this ministry, in a statement, reminds and warns the population about the harmful effects associated with the use of these devices.

It should be said that the fumes emitted by the SEAN and electronic devices, that use heated tobacco and technologies, affect the way our breathing system works.

This can lead to the appearance of infections in the lungs, either caused by bacteria or viruses, and increases the risk of suffering from diseases such as the common cold, flu, pneumonia and tuberculosis, the text warns.

In addition, this year, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund confirmed the first case of lung injury associated with the use of electronic cigarettes and vaporizers (EVALI), which affected a minor.
