According to the spokesman’s statements in an interview with the student news channel MGIMO 360, it is difficult to say whether another president could retain all the achievements made during Putin’s terms.
“He has not yet announced his intention to run for office, but I sincerely want to believe that he will. I have no doubt that he will win the election, I have no doubt that he will remain our president. And then we will see,” Peskov stressed.
The Russian presidential elections are scheduled for March 17th, 2024. The Federation Council (Upper House of the Russian Parliament) will make an official decision on the date of the elections in December 2023, after which political parties will have to hold their primaries and officially nominate their candidates.
Putin has the right to run for a new term, but has not yet commented on the matter.
