Cuba for a humanistic and quality secondary education

Havana, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Basic secondary education in Cuba is distinguished by the implementation of an institutional curriculum with the particularities of each educational center, the national director of this education, Adalberto Revilla, highlighted today.

Exclusively for Prensa Latina, regarding the 3rd International Congress of Basic Secondary School, Revilla specified this allows specific attention to be given to the needs of adolescents and enhances the humanist conception of Cuban education.

In a press conference, organizers reported that the event, convened by the Ministry of Education of Cuba, with the support of the Educational Scientific Exchange Company, will take place from the 20th to the 24th of this month, at the Convention Palace of this capital. .

The 3rd International Congress of Lower Secondary School advocates for inclusive, equitable, quality education and learning opportunities for all at all ages, organizers highlighted.

With this objective, it brings together 250 Cuban teachers along with guests from Venezuela, Mexico, Panama and Honduras; under the motto “For an Inclusive School,” they indicated.

This International Congress, with a hybrid modality, will constitute a space where researchers, specialists, leaders of international organizations and organizations and teachers will be able to exchange experiences in relation to the post-Covid-19 educational model and the impact of the pandemic on educational models on a global scale, Revilla highlighted.

Furthermore, pointed out the national director of Basic Secondary School, it will be a space to consolidate good practices of inclusive education in the most diverse contexts: rural, urban or others, for the improvement of the teaching-learning process.

At the same time, it will promote the strengthening of a teaching model based on respect for cultural diversity and national identity and the formation of human values, he explained.

The meeting is sponsored, the educational leader pointed out, by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the Regional Office of Culture for Latin America and the Caribbean, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the Population of the UN, among other institutions.

The organizers announced the main themes that leading the commissions, among which stand out: sustainable development; peace culture; the education of adolescents from a flexible, relevant and effective curriculum and the school-family-community alliance.

Added to these are: the use of technologies and virtual environments for the comprehensive training of both the student and the teacher and attention to their educational needs.

Organizers indicated that it will be a favorable space to socialize experiences related to comprehensive sexuality education, on gender issues, its mainstreaming in educational processes and the proper management of bullying and cyberbullying, fundamental issues for the health and comprehensive development of Teenagers.

They also highlighted that during the Congress, an exhibition will be held, where specialized national and foreign companies will exhibit and market their productions, services and materials.
