According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin, China has maintained “intensive communication with the stakeholders and has worked hard for a ceasefire and the end of violence, urging to restore peace”.
“On the issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, China has always stood on the side of peace, equity, and justice”, he stressed.
Wang urged nations outside the region, “especially major countries” to assess the situation objectively and impartially and play a constructive role in de-escalation.
The spokesperson emphasized that China, as the rotating president of the UN Security Council, “will continue to work with other related parties to lead the Security Council to take responsible actions and play a positive and constructive role in achieving a ceasefire and mitigating the humanitarian crisis.”
Wang added that China will insist on the adoption of a two-State resolution, which would mean recognizing Palestine as a State to achieve lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis.
