Sixth Investment Forum opens at Havana International Fair

VII-Foro-Inversiones
Havana, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) The 6th Investment Forum was inaugurated the 39th Havana International Fair (FIAHAV) on Tuesday, as a space to promote Cuba's potential to attract foreign capital in various sectors.

At the opening of the event, which will be held for two days, the first deputy minister and minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Ricardo Cabrisas, stressed that this event also aims to disseminate the experiences and good practices of companies that operate with foreign capital in Cuba.

In the presence of members of the diplomatic corps, delegations from different countries and Cuban and foreign business people, Cabrisas highlighted the importance of the various panels that will be held as part of the forum, including one dedicated to the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM, in Spanish).

Other debates will focus on Cuba’s exports to be boosted by foreign investment, and on industrial capacities with potential for foreign participation.

During Wednesday’s session, there will be a special panel that will focus on the Eurasian Economic Union, and another discussion on investment possibilities in the Gulf countries.

Cabrisas stressed that the event will also be the scenario for business forums and meetings among companies.

On Monday, on the opening day of FIHAV at the Expocuba fairgrounds, Cabrisas celebrated the presence of Cuba’s major trading partners in this event, including delegations from Venezuela, Russia, China, Mexico and Spain, being the latter the largest participant in the fair.

Cabrisas stressed that Cuba is open to investment to promote market diversification, access to advanced technology, import substitution, management methods and external financing.

In this regard, he highlighted the role of sectors like renewable energy, transportation, tourism, industry, mining and agri-food.
