In statements to Prensa Latina shortly after the opening of the Conference in this capital, to be held until November 22, Trujillo stated that during the event, Cuba will share its experiences in education, science, culture, and communication.
It will also be a space to thank UNESCO for its historic position against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, the head of the Cuban delegation commented.
Trujillo will give several speeches during the General Conference, which will take place as the High-Level Meeting of Education Ministers and the General Policy Debate, and will meet with UNESCO leaders, including Director General Audrey Azoulay and counterparts from other countries to promote bilateral cooperation.
According to the Cuban education minister, there is a marked coincidence between UNESCO’s principles and values and those promoted by the social model that Cuba defends and strengthens amid global challenges and the effects of the US blockade for more than 60 years.
Regarding education, she pointed out that Cuba would present its results and experiences after the third improvement of the educational system, special care for children, adolescents, and young people, achievements in higher education, and a vision to work for permanent quality and equitable education for all.
The top Cuban official stressed the need to bet on peace in the complex times humanity is living and the role of UNESCO, a UN institution consisting of 194 member nations, in pursuing this goal.
