Al Mayadeen denounces Israel’s attempts to silence journalists’ work

Corresponsal-768x575
Beirut, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) Israel tries to silence the voice of truth and justify the crimes in the Gaza Strip, denounced the correspondent of the pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen in occupied Jerusalem, Hana Mahameed.

In statements to the Lebanon-based network, the correspondent reaffirmed the legitimacy of her journalistic work and adherence to ethics, amid the restrictions imposed by the Tel Aviv authorities on media outlets and reporters.

After suffering an ambush and threats from Israeli Channel 12 reporter Haim Edgar, Mahameed emphasized that this is part of the (Zionist) regime’s systematic policy of intimidation, and an attempt to silence all Palestinians, especially within the occupied areas since 1948.

For Mahameed, the Israeli establishment pursues with all its might, to prevent any voice telling another narrative opposite to its own, from coming out; and to this end, it has ramped up the persecution of political activists, religious figures, and journalists, whether on the ground or in social networks.

“Since the beginning of this war, I have been exposed to an Israeli incitement campaign, be it on television, websites, or social networks,” she said, stating that violations, restrictions and harassment of Palestinian journalists’ work, including limitations of movements within the Old City of Jerusalem, which have risen in the last month.

She commented that the Tel Aviv government uses the pretext of inciting terrorism, and its media acts as if they were the army and tries to give legitimacy to the crimes committed by the IDF against civilians in the Gaza Strip. “Israeli authorities argue that there are foreign media outlets that spread lies and expose their forces to danger,” she said.

Mahameed added that Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet will decide on an emergency order, which allows the closure of broadcast stations “that harm the security of Israel.”

Al Mayadeen, reported that agencies such as the Mossad and the Shin Bet recommended suspending their transmissions from Israel, as part of Israeli attempts to hide the truth and cover up the daily massacres committed against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
