Cuba won the Pan American Wrestling in extremis

Santiago de Chile, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuba today completed its reign in wrestling of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, after winning four golds on the final day of this sport.

The largest of the Antilles was the nation with the most medals in this sport, but at the beginning of the day, the United States led the medal table with seven golds, three more than the Cuban delegation.

However, that changed drastically this Saturday, because the four divisions that were contested on the day: 67, 87, 97 and 130 kilograms of the Greek style, had Cuban gladiators as winners.

Daniel Gregorich began the golden path with revenge included by taking the 87 kilogram gold after defeating Venezuelan Luis Avendaño 5-1, who beat him four years ago in the semifinals.

Also against a Venezuelan, the new world champion Gabriel Rosillo (97) won, and then Luis Orta confirmed his favoritism in the 67 kilograms by sweeping the Colombian Julián Horta due to technical superiority (10-1).

The 130 kilogram final then remained, with a protagonist from Cuba and another from the United States, so whoever emerged victorious would break the tie in the classification by country, and it was the Antillean Oscar Pino who took the lead, after defeating 6-0 the American Cohlton Schultz.

With this title, the Pearl of the Caribbean closed with eight gold medals, five silver and three bronze, while the northern giant scored 7-3-1 , while Brazil finished third with 2-1-1.
