Congreso
Havana, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) The 3rd National Congress of Family Medicine, which enters its second day on Thursday, will dedicate part of its debates to the challenges this specialty faces in the Americas.

National delegates and foreign guests will also analyze the development of homegrown vaccines and the prospects for clinical trials at the Havana-based Conference Center.

On Wednesday, participants discussed the importance of this specialty and the first line of attention in the health sector, but it requires new concepts in line with current circumstances.

They discussed the importance of establishing a healthcare system, in which, understanding needs and demands are essential.

Delegates deemed it important to work on the concept of health; people should understand the difference between life expectancy and healthy life expectancy.

They pointed out the importance of renewing ideas on how to deal with chronic non-communicable diseases.

The 3rd National Congress of Family Medicine started on Wednesday under the motto “40 Years of Achievements, Challenges of Family Medicine in Cuba, for the accomplishment of Universal Health.”
