Electoral Power welcomed Venezuelan justice ruling

Caracas, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) The Electoral Power of Venezuela today unanimously welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to declare the constitutionality of the five questions of the consultative referendum of December 3 for Essequibo.

The rectors of the National Electoral Council (CNE) also welcomed the ruling of the highest judicial entity towards compliance with the electoral schedule, declared Elvis Amoroso, head of that body of the Bolivarian State.

Amoroso called on “everyone to vote together” in the December consultative referendum for Guayana Esequiba.

The Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ declared this Wednesday the constitutionality of the five questions of the popular consultation and ratified in a ruling the content of questions raised by the CNE.

These refer to: Do you agree to reject by all means in accordance with the Law, the line fraudulently interposed by the Paris Arbitration Award of 1899, which seeks to deprive us of our Guayana Esequiba?

Do you support the 1966 Geneva Agreement as the only valid legal instrument to reach a practical and satisfactory solution for Venezuela and Guyana regarding the controversy over the territory of Guayana Esequiba?

Do you agree with Venezuela’s historical position of not recognizing the Jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice to resolve the territorial controversy over Guayana Esequiba?

Do you agree to oppose, by all legal means, Guyana’s claim to unilaterally dispose of a sea pending delimitation, illegally and in violation of international law?

Do you agree with the creation of the Guayana Esequiba state and the development of an accelerated plan for comprehensive care for the current and future population of that territory that includes, among others, the granting of citizenship and Venezuelan identity card, in accordance with the Geneva Agreement and International Law?

The Supreme Court ordered the publication of the full text of the ruling in the Official Gazette, the Judicial Gazette and the website of the highest court.

Last September, the National Assembly of Venezuela unanimously approved the holding of a consultative referendum for the people to vote directly and secretly on Essequibo.

Last month the CNE approved the five questions and announced the date of the elections, the 30th in 24 years of Revolution, which will define the strategy to be followed by the State over Guayana Esequiba, of 160 thousand square kilometers and in controversy with Guyana for over a century ago.
