Xi stated in a letter that international scientific and technological cooperation is a decisive trend.
The Chinese president stressed the “strong friendship” between the two countries, “forged by the older generation of leaders.”
“I express sincere hope that China-Cuba cooperation in several fields, including technology, could continue to deepen in this new era to benefit the people of the two nations,” he wrote.
At another point, the head of State noted that countries globally should jointly promote peace and the development of humanity through technological innovation.
Xi also highlighted the contributions that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), proposed by him in 2013, brought about in this regard.
“China and the countries participating in this initiative have accelerating technological exchanges and knowledge sharing, optimizing the innovation environment and gathering innovation resources continuously,” he said.
Pedro A. Valdés Sosa told the president about his team’s achievements in China in promoting brain-science research and cooperation on neurotechnology.
In a letter to Xi, the Cuban scientist expressed his willingness to continue to enhance bilateral friendship and the implementation of the BRI.
Valdés Sosa is the director of the China-Cuba Joint Laboratory of Neurotechnology in Chengdu.
