In a video on his X account, formerly Twitter, Internal Relations, Justice and Peace Minister Remigio Ceballos showed the moment when the police arrived at the prison to take control of it.

Ceballos pointed out that the operation was part of the revitalization of the national penitentiary system, ‘leveraged in the Great Peace Quadrants Mission, strengthening the peace that we have achieved in the country, together with our President Nicolas Maduro.’

In statements to Venezolana de Televisión, Ceballos, who is also the vice president for Citizen Security and Peace, explained that this is a ‘long-term’ planning work and a precise order from the head of State to maintain peace in the country.

We have guaranteed peace, the people’s protection, in the fight against criminal gangs and prison for the peace structures and the Venezuelan people’s welfare, he stated.

Ceballos pointed out that this prison is undergoing a complete transformation that will allow guaranteeing that people in conflict with the law serve their sentences and are reinstated to contribute to the national development.

He explained that the 1,511 inmates from this prison will be temporarily transferred to other facilities, and after they have been recovered, they will return.

Ceballos stressed that they continue to move forward to guarantee the Great Peace Quadrant Mission as a solution to the protection of the people, in permanent combat against crime and all mafias.
