Cuba denounced in Ethiopia the damages caused by the U.S. blockade

cuba-etiopia
Addis Ababa, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre, exposed to the local press the main affectations caused by the blockade imposed by the United States government against the Caribbean island for more than 60 years.

Lefebre cited the draft resolution entitled “Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”, which will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly on the 1st and 2nd of next month.

He explained that the losses caused by this unilateral policy exceed one billion dollars with serious consequences for the economy, health, education and the general development of the Cuban people.

He recalled that the blockade is aimed at depriving the Caribbean country of the financial income needed to acquire food, medicines, technologies, among others. The blockade was tightened and intensified during the administration of President Donald Trump (2017-2021) with the application of 243 additional measures.

The Cuban diplomat explained that since 1992 this report has been presented at the United Nations and every year it is supported by the international community. Its presentation helps to create greater awareness of the effects of the blockade and the needs to put an end to it.
