During a meeting, the two leaders of the Maronite Christian community emphasized that Lebanon’s sovereignty is more important than the file of the presidency of the Republic and discussed the situation on the southern border.

In an atmosphere of understanding, Franjieh and Bassil insisted on the need to work to prevent division and called the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip a crime against humanity.

Bassil stressed the agreement on unity in the face of the threat of war and on work, as well as the urgency of restoring order in the institutions.

By the way, the head of the parliamentary bloc Strong Lebanon said: “I am happy with the visit of the head of the Marada Movement and in these circumstances we overcame the barriers and I received a positive response”.

For his part, former minister Franjieh stated that the country is more important and like the resistance in Lebanon it is necessary to face it with unity of position.

Almost a year before entering the stage of presidential vacuum, Lebanon faces the danger of a military escalation as a consequence of the Israeli bombardment of areas of the southern border and the persistent aggression against the Palestinian people.
