The operations of this naval structure in the Port of Havana will bring significant benefits to Cuba’s economy, and will provide services to the Caribbean region, local media reported.
According to the Granma newspaper, the Floating Dock at the CDC, S.A. Shipyard will allow repairing ships up to the Panamax type, for which contracting of both national and foreign ships has already begun.
Quoted by Granma, the general director of the Maritime-Port Transport Business Group (Gemar), Miguel Pineda, explained that the dock will enhance the development of exports in naval repairs and the linkage with the production of goods and services in Cuba’s economy.
The structure, built in the People’s Republic of China, will increase capacity significantly. jg/ro/lld
