Palestinian leader calls for world unity to stop Israel

Ramallah, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh called today to create a movement and a united international front to stop Israel's bombings against the Gaza Strip and seek a just solution to the conflict.

Our main priorities are to end the Israeli aggression against that territory, to avoid further loss of life and property, and to send aid in the face of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, said the official, quoted by the official Wafa news agency.

The head of government’s statements were made during a meeting here with 25 ambassadors, representatives and consuls from various countries accredited to the State of Palestine.

Shtayyeh also denounced plans to displace the population of the enclave and an imminent ground invasion by the Israel Defense Forces, which mobilized hundreds of thousands of reservists since the beginning of the new cycle of violence, on October 7.

The prime minister considered that the international community must support a dialogue process that ends the occupation and promotes a two-state solution, including the Palestinian one with its capital in East Jerusalem.

International support for Israel in its aggression means giving it the green light and license for more killing and destruction, he warned.

On the subject, the politician recalled that “this is the sixth war in the Gaza Strip.”

Israel’s successive governments, especially this far-right government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, have adopted a strategy of systematically destroying the possibility of a two-state solution and are developing a divide-and-rule policy in trying to separate Gaza from the West Bank, he noted.

This Sunday the Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the world to put pressure on Israel to force it to stop its new attacks.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also urged to promote a political solution to the Palestinian issue and end the Israeli occupation.

We hold the Netanyahu government fully and directly responsible for the destruction in the Strip and the displacement of its population, stated the ministry, which described these events as “war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
