Havana, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) Several solidarity events with Palestine held in Cuba and the denunciation of the negative impact of the blockade imposed by the United States marked news events this week.

Throughout Cuba, students, representatives of civil society, political and social organizations and diplomats condemned Israel’s ferocious aggression against the Gaza Strip, as well as the indiscriminate attacks to which it the Palestinian people have been subjected for decades.

In an open forum at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICACP), its president, Fernando González, said that it is a shame for humanity that with the support of the United States, the Government of Israel intensifies its policy of aggression to complete the extermination of the Palestinian people.

At a press conference, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez strongly condemned the murders of civilians and innocent people as a result of the current escalation, without differentiating their ethnicity, origin, nationality or religious faith.

The head of Cuban diplomacy called for the immediate resumption of the emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly, where the highest priority must be to achieve an end of violence and the supply of sufficient humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

He called to mobilize, under the coordination of the United Nations, emergency humanitarian aid to address the catastrophic situation in Gaza, while asking all parties involved to facilitate the arrival and distribution of this indispensable aid.

This week, the Cuban Foreign Ministry published on its website the Draft resolution entitled “Necessity to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba,” which will be submitted to the consideration of the United Nations General Assembly on November 1 and 2.

The report explains that the damage caused by Washington’s unilateral blockade over the past six decades, based on the value of gold, has reached 1.337 trillion dollars, an incommensurable figure for any economy in the world.

When presenting these data to the press, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez charged that the blockade against Cuba has a lethal impact with direct and indirect economic damage and aims to deprive the country of financial income that is essential to acquire food, technologies and vital supplies.
