At the Plaza de la Constitucion, located in front of the seat of the Government, a crowd arriving from different areas still remains holding Guatemala’s flags, posters and mottos such as, “The vote is sovereign” or “Out with the coup perpetrators.”
A banner reads: “Today we commemorate and fight for our democracy and freedom,” while another one reflects “We love the 48 Cantons of Totonicapan,” in reference to those who called for rallies in defense of the popular will.
After 19 consecutive days, at least 25 spots of strategic highways remain cordoned off on Friday, most of them on the CA-1 West route, which leads from Guatemala to Huehuetenango.
