The UN chief announced cooperation in the region through the Rafah border crossing to ensure the entry of supplies which are still in Egypt.
Israel and the United States have announced that humanitarian aid will be allowed into Gaza; I know there is an agreement between Egypt and Israel to make this possible, Guterres said.
These announcements have been made with some conditions and restrictions, he said.
According to Guterres, efforts are now focused on “clarifying those conditions” and “limiting those restrictions” to send the trucks where they are needed as soon as possible.
The UN high representative reiterated his call for a humanitarian ceasefire to address the urgent needs of Palestinians remaining in the enclave.
