It is the film that gave him his first important role in cinema, a work by director Valerio Zurlini (1961), to whom, according to critics, we owe two of the “most intense, desperate and captivating productions ever seen in Italian cinema” and one of them is “La ragazza con la valigia” (The Girl with the Suitcase).
This feature film tells the story of Aida, a young woman who sings for a living, tries to remember Marcelo Feinardi, another young, but rich playboy, who abandons her.
“The Girl with the Suitcase” is a romantic drama that won the Palme d’Or in the Best Film category at the Cannes Film Festival (1961).
The film also won the David Di Donatello Award with the Special Prize for Claudia Cardinalle (1961), the film’s female protagonist.
The tributes to Perrin will continue until Sunday, October 22, with the screening that day of “Cinema Paradiso”, released in 1988 and winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
This drama is a sentimental portrait of post-war Italy and a declaration of love for the movies.
