Egypt will host international summit to address war against Gaza

Cairo, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) Leaders of at least 12 countries confirmed their attendance at an international peace summit, convened by Egypt, to try to stop Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

According to Al-Qahera News television, the leaders of Qatar, Türkiye, Greece, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Cyprus, will participate in the summit, which will take place next Sunday. The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, also confirmed his presence.

Since the beginning of the new cycle of violence, on October 7th, Cairo began an intense agenda of contacts with regional and international organizations to put an end to it.

Two days ago, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi flatly rejected any Israeli project to expel the 2.3 million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip to the Sinai Peninsula. “Egypt has 105 million inhabitants (…) If it is necessary to ask the Egyptian people to come out and express their rejection of this idea, you will see millions of Egyptians come out to express their rejection,” said the president during a press conference.

He also criticized deliberate attacks against civilians, and called on the international community to intervene to stop them. “The continuation of current military operations will have humanitarian and security repercussions that could get out of control and even threaten to expand the scope of the conflict”, El-Sisi warned.

The President of Egypt demanded a just solution for the Palestinian people, which included the creation of a state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
