In a statement supporting the Palestinian cause, the CPSL described the Israeli decades-long violation of international regulations and international humanitarian law as blatant, with the full support of “Western imperialism” and without any meaningful intervention to address the core issue of the conflict.
On the other hand, it blamed Tel Aviv for a growing resistance to Israel’s criminal occupation of Palestine.
Before the current serious events, settlers rampaged the occupied territories under the auspices of the Israeli authorities and staged incidents around the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the political party noted.
Civilian deaths and crimes against civilians must be avoided and condemned. However, it must be clearly understood that the Israeli army and state-sponsored settlers are committing horrendous crimes against the Palestinian people daily, it said.
The PSLC strongly and unequivocally rejected the continued military bombardment of Gaza and reiterated that the collective punishment of Gaza citizens is a war crime that must stop immediately.
It urged all parties concerned in the conflict to stop the escalation of violence that has resulted in the deaths of many innocent civilians, mostly Palestinians.
The Communist Party of Sri Lanka also ratified that it will always support the Palestinian people and their legitimate demands for independence and sovereignty.
