“Russian-Chinese cooperation in the gas sector is developing dynamically. This year, Russian gas exports to China will reach a historical record,” Sechin said on the sidelines of the Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum, TASS reported this Thursday.
According to the executive, the energy sector is the most important area of cooperation between the two countries.”
“Russia surpassed Saudi Arabia to become China’s top oil supplier in the first eight months of 2023. More than 75 million tons of Russian oil have already been delivered to China this year, which is 25 percent more than last year,” the CEO said.
According to Sechin, energy accounts for more than 75 percent of exports to China; the estimated trade exchange between the two countries over the past five years amounted to 660 billion dollars.
“Russia remains ready to strengthen and deepen cooperation with China in the energy value chain and related areas, including technology, equipment supplies, and project financing. I am convinced that the potential of our cooperation is huge,” he stressed.
