Work by Japanese parliamentarians for Cuba-Japan relations recognized

Tokyo, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal recognized in this capital on Thursday the historic work done by the Japan-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship League to promote and diversify bilateral relations.

During the meeting with the Japanese legislators, the Cuban Embassy here reported, Vidal expressed satisfaction with the good relations between the two countries, as evidenced during the recently concluded 16th Inter-Ministerial Political Dialogue.

The diplomat also expressed gratitude for the collaboration from the Japanese Government to develop Cuba and the sustained support on the resolution Cuba submits at the United Nations every year against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

Keiji Furuya, president of the Japan-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship League, and Yamaguchi, leader of the Komeito party, led the Japanese delegation.

Furuya mentioned the main activities of the League and its members to deepen ties of friendship.

Yamaguchi expressed his desire to consolidate bilateral relations amid a complex international situation.

Both parties recognized the work done by Cuban Ambassador to Japan, Miguel A. Ramirez, who attended the meeting and who will soon conclude his mission in Tokyo.

General Directorate of Bilateral Affairs officials at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied Vidal.
