At a press briefing, Wang provided details on the conclusion of the event, organized in Beijing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The foreign minister assured that more than 140 countries and 41 organizations attended the event, with an estimated 10,000 participants.
The diplomat pointed out that high-level sub-forums on connectivity, green development, digital economy, and others on people-to-people exchanges, maritime cooperation, and dialogue among experts and think tanks were held during the meeting.
Also, a business forum of BRI members reached agreements worth more than 97 billion dollars, Wang stated.
He emphasized that the new phase of the BRI will focus on the digital economy and the implementation of innovation and technology, green development, and modernization globally.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who attended the Forum, supported Beijing’s proposals and praised the BRI’s contribution to new global governance.
