“Although in today’s geopolitical conditions the possibilities to keep contacts and develop relations are very limited, it is satisfactory that with many countries of Europe our relations are maintained and developed. One of these States is Hungary,” Putin said, according to a report from Russia.
The president added that ties between Budapest and Moscow over the past few decades have been built exclusively with the interests of the other party in mind, relying “on all the positive things inherited from the past.” That applies to a significant number of areas of activity, first of all, the economy, he said.
Orban, in turn, stressed that “Hungary has never wanted to confront Russia, quite the contrary. Hungary’s goal has always been to establish and expand the best mutual contacts.”
