Havana, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) on Monday expressed its strong condemnation of the extermination policy implemented by Israel against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.

In a a statement, the organization denounced the criminal blockade imposed on the area, which prevents the arrival of water, food and medicines, as well as the indiscriminate bombing of the territory, which has displaced more than one million persons, has killed more than 2,670 and has wounded at least 9,600 people.

In this regard, it expressed its deepest concern over the situation in the area, which is the result of Israel’s colonizing, aggressive policy in violation of international law, the press release added.

According to the text, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), rejected Israel’s permanent violation of the UN Charter, as well as its disregard for the calls from the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights on the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.

It also rejects the failure to comply with the numerous resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which unequivocally express the international community’s desire to respect the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

The ACNU called on the UN Secretary General and the members of the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities under the UN Charter, and to take actions to reach a ceasefire and contribute to a definitive solution to the conflict.

We call on all stakeholders to unite to contribute to achieving peace and stability in the area and globally, the statement said, calling on peace lovers and defenders of multilateralism to demand an immediate end of the conflict.

It also called for a comprehensive and lasting solution of the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
