In his account on X, the secretary general of the PLO Executive Committee, Hussein Al-Sheikh, said that these issues were discussed during his telephone conversation this morning with the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry.
We both agreed on the need for international pressure to stop the bombardment of the enclave and to open humanitarian channels urgently to its population, he stressed.
Al-Sheikh announced yesterday via the same channel that both the Palestinian government and the PLO are in contact with numerous countries to stop the aggression.
Al-Sheikh called for the protection of Palestinian civilians and for the prevention of the displacement of more than one million people, following the order of the authorities of the neighboring country.
In this regard, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry denounced that the Gaza Strip is subjected to genocide. He also demanded that Israel be pressured to stop its bombardments against this territory, where more than 2,380 citizens have been killed.
As part of the campaign, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke by telephone yesterday with his counterparts in the United States, Joe Biden, and Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The PLO, composed of numerous parties, is recognized by the international community as “the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people”.
