In statements to reporters, the head of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC) explained that the heterogeneity of participants and their different lines of thought might contribute to finding solutions to place proposals with a consensus from different perspectives of social science.

After 10 years without holding this kind of meeting, the exchanges of criteria could be enriched this year from Cuba’s presidency of the G77+China, and the new presidency of the BRICS, with the inclusion of new members and the opening of its bank, in addition to military conflicts, and the blockades against various countries, but above all, in how to channel the common proposals and agreements, according to the current context, of those who fight for a better world, with emphasis on the incorporation of the concept of the Global South, which marks and unites us, Hung pointed out.

The event will be held at Havana’s International Conference Center and will consist of 13 thematic axes, including the challenges of the international economy in times of crisis, multilateralism from its different visions, economic globalization, international trade, trends in monetary relations, and financial and international flows.

Other topics will be social inclusion and structural mutations, business internationalization, cooperation and integration, challenges of small developing island states, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and environmental and development challenges, according to Hung, who is also the pro tempore president of the Association of Economists from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Other parallel events include an expofair, two forums, and more events to complement a meeting that will be attended by some 20 countries, such as Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, the United States, Panama, and Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Spain.

The genesis of these meetings dates back to 1999, from the vision of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
