Cuba reaffirms priority to mitigate disaster damage

Havana, Oct 13 (Havana) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez reaffirmed on Friday his country's priority to minimize human and economic damage in the face of the growing threat of natural disasters.

Under the slogan “Fighting Inequality for a Resilient Future,” Cuba commemorates this date, according to the Civil Defense, while calling for responsible action to preserve the future of humanity.

Given that most countries with high disaster risk have the highest proportion of people living below the national poverty line, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction encourages people to take action to break the cycle of disasters and growing inequality.
