The goal is to stop the strategy that seeks to prevent the President-elect Bernardo Arevalo from taking office, and to maintain control of the Executive, its members noted.
Grouped under the known Guatemalan Labor Party, they pointed out that this organization’s power lies in the hands of the mafia bourgeoisie, active and retired military of the extreme right, as well as organized crime.
They included in their communiqué mafia forces and politicians who, in an alliance from the counterinsurgency, currently control the State.
“All peoples and sectors demand the resignation of Attorney General Consuelo Porras, prosecutors Rafael Curruchiche and Cinthya Monterroso and Judge Fredy Orellana,” they stated in the text.
They described these people as “main operators who from the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) and the Judiciary intend to subvert the constitutional order.”
They described as crystal-clear that the current President Alejandro Giammattei, as well as those who make up the Supreme Court of Justice and the Constitutional Court, are part of this attempted coup d’état.
