Syria blames US for drone terror attack on military academy

Damascus, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian government on Thursday said that the recent drone attack against a military academy in the center of the country would not have happened without orders from the United States and other Western countries, as stated by Syria's Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, Milad Attiya.

Washington, Paris and other States of the Collective West continue to provide funding, training and weapons to terrorists present in Syria to attack civilian and military targets, the delegate condemned, while saying that this Western approach has encouraged radicals to commit increasingly heinous crimes including the latest one that targeted a cadet graduation ceremony in the central city of Homs where 89 civilians and military personnel were killed and 277 were injured.

Attiya criticized that OPCW´s Technical Secretariat, as an international organization, ignored all international reports issued by the United Nations confirming that terrorist groups were capable of possessing advanced weapons and airborne systems.

We warned about the possibility of these terrorists loading advanced drones with chemical weapons and thus threatening innocent people in other parts of the world, Attiya added while reaffirming Syria’s categorical rejection of the use of chemical weapons by any party and at any time or place.
