López Obrador denies trusts’ suspensions affect legal workers

Mexico City, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, denied today that the suspension of 13 of 14 trusts of the Judiciary, harmed workers as assured by the National Supreme Court of Justice.

He assured that these trusts are not used, but are reserves held by the courts for the benefit of the high public functionaries of that State Power, and urged the legislators of the Chamber of Deputies to explain it.

He said that very little of these funds is executed and it is accumulated in each period as if it were a “little bank reserve for the benefit of the top elite of the Supreme Court, the Tribunal and, therefore, it is not going to affect the workers as the magistrates point out”.

They, he said, are acting against the republican austerity proclaimed by President Emeritus Benito Juarez when he indicated that the public servants must learn to live in the fair median of the average social income, which they do not do, because while the average salary in Mexico is 16,000 pesos per month (about 900 dollars) theirs is 700,000 pesos.

That is to say, he clarified, that while an average Mexican earns 665 pesos per working day, they earn 30 thousand.
