According to Dominica News, the project aims to improve facilities and services at Champagne Beach – a diving and snorkeling beach near the southern town of Pointe Michel – to enhance the visitor experience and create opportunities for entrepreneurship. The proposed facility will feature a basement reception area and dispenser units, changing rooms, locker rooms and spa services, while the upper levels will include a restaurant and bar, restrooms, open dining area, and recreation and entertainment space.
This will not only improve conditions for visitors, but will also generate employment opportunities, from the construction phase to the operational phase, according to the nation’s Minister of Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security, Irving McIntyre.
In his opinion, the spaces dedicated to arts, crafts and culinary delights will allow local inhabitants to showcase their skills and contribute to the tourism ecosystem.
