Armed groups rob and kidnap citizens for ransom, forcing residents to leave their besieged neighborhoods and seek refuge in other safer areas.
Despite the serious violence crisis, the structure is reserved about the deployment of foreign troops requested by the Government to fight off the gangs, and recalls that it is not the first attempt by the international community to tackle the problem with similar initiatives.
Three foreign military interventions in the last three decades are the result of the incapacity of our leaders to manage the country in a responsible manner and of the deep divisions among Haitian actors as to the way forward to solve the problems of the Haitian people’.
