Indians note parallelism between Che’s ideas and support for Cuba

New Delhi, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of Indian student and agrarian organizations on Monday highlighted the parallelism between Ernesto Che Guevara's proletarian internationalism and solidarity with Cuba and other fair causes.

Leaders of national groups agreed on the validity of Guevara’s thought and the importance of supporting the Cuban people in their struggle against the United States blockade, during the official beginning of the Students Federation of India (SFI)’s joining of the international campaign to collect one million signatures to remove Cuba from Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism list.

In the presence of the Cuban Ambassador Alejandro Simancas, as a guest, the SFI Vice President Nitheesh Narayanan pointed out that the US blockade is the most extensive measure against a people ever known in the history of humankind.

Naranyanan pointed out that despite the economic war by the US Government, Cuba’s political system focuses on the human being, with priorities in guaranteeing free health care and education as rights.

He noted the international medical scholarship program in Cuba with the only requirement of a professional dedication to public service in any country after graduation.

Narayanan also mentioned Cuba’s priority on children’s happiness and education, including the training of those with special needs, so that they can become active individuals in society.

The Indian leader reaffirmed that Cuba’s inclusion on the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism is an injustice, because while the United States exports bombs and armaments, the Caribbean island provides its doctors to the world.

Therefore, Cuba tops the list of humanism, solidarity, internationalism, peace and dignity, he stressed.

Ambassador Simancas, in turn, charged that Cuba’s inclusion on the above-mentioned list strengthens the US economic war against the Cuban people, which has been causing hardships for more than 60 years.

The diplomat added that it is ironic that Washington keeps Cuba in this classification when it is the United States that is known as the world’s largest terrorist, and recalled that Cuba has been the victim of violent acts planned and financed on US territory.
