During the opening ceremony of EXPOALADI 2023 at Havana’s Conference Center on Monday, Foreign Trade and Investment’s First Deputy Minister Ana Teresita González stated that the tenth edition of this event will help promote and diversify intra-regional trade and the productive integration of the region.
President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero attended the first day of ALADI’s largest annual event.
In her speech, González pointed out that the Multisectoral Business Macro-Roundtable is important for Cuba, as it is the first to be held in the Caribbean.
She mentioned that the presence of 368 Latin American companies, 214 exporters, and 154 importers is an opportunity for Cuban companies whose commercial and financial operations are hampered by the tightened economic blockade imposed six decades ago by the United States on Cuba.
That US policy has maximized the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in Cuba and the effects of the international economic and financial crisis, significantly affecting the Cuban population.
The fuctionary stressed that the criminal blockade seeks to prevent Cuba from advancing in the search for prosperity and welfare of its people and the full development of economic and commercial relations with other countries.
