Cuba: CDR aims at strengthening ties with youngsters

Havana, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Cuba's largest mass organization, on Wednesday urged for strengthening relations with community families, especially with teens and youngsters.

On the first day of CDR´s 10th Congress, held at Havana International Conference Center (HICC), attendees debated in commissions on how to integrate Cuban youth into CDR’s missions.

According to Karla Jimenez, 24, a community CDR President, there is no better scenario for youngsters than the community to work for Cuba, to contribute to beautifying and cleaning their neighborhoods, as well as being activists of social causes.

According to the young Legislator of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) Elian Gonzalez, “if a CDR works properly, it is possible to attack all social excruciating issues in the community such as drug addiction and unemployment of youngsters.

Gonzalez pointed out, “It is necessary that young Cubans learn the history of their country, and why it was critical to develop a revolutionary process, which triumphed in 1959 under the leadership of the historic leader Fidel Castro.
