Jurists Association demand investigation into attack on Cuban Embassy

aaj-1-768x451
Buenos Aires, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The American Association of Jurists (AAJ) demanded that the United States investigate and punish those materially and intellectually responsible for aggressions against Cuba, especially for the recent attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington.

In a press release, the AAJ expressed its energetic repudiation of the attack perpetrated on Sunday night, when an individual threw two Molotov cocktails against the diplomatic headquarters.

It also pointed out that this was the second violent act against the facility in three years.

In April 2020, a subject fired at the building with an assault rifle. No one was injured, but material damage was caused, the text indicates.

It is important to remember that, according to the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the United States is obliged, especially in its capacity as host, to provide due protection to such premises (Article 22), it adds.

It also explains that, in case of intrusion or attack, Washington has the obligation to investigate, punish those responsible and make the necessary efforts to avoid the repetition of such actions.

The AAJ urged the U.S. to fulfill its obligations and put an end to the impunity of those who act with the support of anti-Cuban and ultra-right-wing media hate speeches.

On the other hand, the American Association of Jurists insisted on the urgency of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.
