Venezuela and Colombia to hold business conference

Caracas-Hotel-Tamanaco-768x577
Caracas, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Some 700 businessmen and authorities from Venezuela and Colombia will participate in a business conference, which will last until Friday, with the objective of enhancing economic and commercial relations.

The meeting takes place just over a year after the reestablishment of relations between the two countries. It is expected to generate new supply opportunities in strategic sectors.

The gathering was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade of Venezuela and on the Colombian part: the Bank of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro stated weeks ago that this appointment will serve to continue refining plans for investment, trade, joint work and economic integration between Bogotá and Caracas.

The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean will participate in the event, according to local media.

Official information indicated that commercial exchange between Colombia and Venezuela grew by 19 percent until last June after the reestablishment of relations in August, last year.

In a meeting last February, Maduro and Petro signed a partial scope agreement of commercial nature, which further strengthened the reestablishment of relations between the two countries.

A statement from the Venezuelan Government suggested that the agreements will fundamentally promote the complementation of production and services, and the creation of employment. They will also provide greater social security for Colombian and Venezuelan citizens in a context of social justice and promotion for peace.
