He recalled that this is the second time in three years that the Cuban embassy in Washington has been the target of a violent attack. In April 2020, an individual of Cuban origin, who is still awaiting trial, fired 30 rounds at the facility in a burst, causing considerable material damage.

A statement from the Cuban Foreign Ministry indicated the day before that at the request of the diplomatic mission, officers from the United States Secret Service appeared at the headquarters and had access to its facilities to verify the violent action perpetrated.
