Europeans condemn attack on Cuban Embassy in US

Paris, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Associations and parliamentarians from several European countries joined Tuesday to condemn Sunday's attack with Molotov cocktails on the Cuban Embassy in Washington and called on the United States to stop protecting terrorism.

The Cuba Si France solidarity association described the action as despicable, deplorable, and extremely serious, recalling that this is the second time since 2020 that the Cuban diplomatic mission in the US capital was the target of a terrorist attack.

The Coordinating Committee of Cuban Residents in France set the attack within the context of a criminal campaign sponsored, protected, and financed by Washington that has been going on since the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.

Cuba Si France and the Coordinating Committee warned that the anti-Cuban extreme right was responding with hatred to President Miguel Díaz-Canel’s successful stay in New York, where he received expressions of support and solidarity.

In Belgium, the Cubanismo.be association described the attack as cowardly and called on Washington to assume its responsibilities.

In northern Europe, the Swedish-Cuban Solidarity Association accused the US Government of failing to protect a foreign embassy, which violates international law and treaties.

From the Netherlands, the Etio-Cuban Community in Europe sent an embrace to the Cuban people, the diplomatic personnel in the United States, and their families and joined voices to #NoToTerrorism.

On Monday, MEPs Manu Pineda (Spain) and Massimiliano Smeriglio (Italy) and political forces, including the Belgian Labor Party and La France Insoumise (France Unbowed), also rejected the attack.
