Italian organizations support Cuba during solidarity meeting in Turin

Rome, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Social, political, and trade union organizations in the Italian city of Turin held an event in solidarity with Cuba to reaffirm their support for that country and condemned the aggressions against it, a spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

Olga Lidia Priel, a Cuban resident in Italy, told Prensa Latina that Cuba’s Consul in Milan, Marcos Hernández, in a message to the participants, thanked, those who “have always stood by Cuba” and with their support “give us strength.”

In the activity held at the premises of the Italian Social Promotion Association (ARCI) in Vanchiglietta on Monday, the participants rejected Sunday’s terrorist attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington, in the United States.

They condemned that act conducted by an individual who threw two incendiary bombs known as Molotov cocktails at the diplomatic headquarters.

This was the second attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington. The first one was perpetrated in April 2020, when a man opened fire with a rifle against that facility.

They also rejected the US Government’s economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba, the absurd and unjust inclusion in the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, from which it is a victim, and the outrageous propaganda campaigns that distort the reality in that country.

The Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL), the Agency for Cultural and Economic Exchange with Cuba (AICEC), the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI), and the Cuba Solidarity Committee (CSC), among other organizations, are among the groups that supported the initiative.

In his speech, the Cuban consul pointed out that his country, as has occurred since the triumph of the Revolution, is being attacked by the US Government, which is trying to stifle the island economically and provoke a bloodbath to overthrow the government, but “it could not achieve this goal and could not do so.”
