“We condemn this new terrorist attack on the sovereign integrity of #Cuba, and we support its people and authorities,” the diplomat wrote on the X platform, formerly Twitter.
On Monday, local media reported the action, which has been denounced as terrorist by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, who informed that an individual threw two Molotov cocktails at the diplomatic headquarters on Sunday evening without causing any damage.
The head of Cuban diplomacy pointed out that it is the second violent attack on the Embassy in Washington since April 2020, when a man opened fire with a rifle against that facility.
Rodríguez denounced that anti-Cuba groups resort to terrorism “when they feel impunity, something about which Cuba has repeatedly warned US authorities.”
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the attack on the X social media on Monday, when he wrote, “Last night, hatred once again launched a terrorist attack on our embassy in Washington, in an act of violence and powerlessness that could have cost valuable lives. We denounce it and we expect actions from US authorities.”
