Senator expresses solidarity with Cuba after attack on Embassy in US

Bogota, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Colombian Senator Ivan Cepeda, from the Historic Pact, expressed his solidarity with the people and Government of Cuba after the Molotov cocktail attack perpetrated on the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

“It is not the first time, unfortunately, that this kind of aggression against the Cuban people has occurred from the United States”, the congressman, head of the Peace Commission of the Congress (bicameral), warned in statements to Prensa Latina.

Cepeda emphasized, in view of this terrorist act, the importance of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the Government of the United States for more than half a century.

Likewise, “any action that goes against its people and that uses violence and terror as a form of opposition to the path chosen by the Cuban people should be clearly pursued.”

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday denounced the new attack on the Cuban Embassy in the US capital.

“Last night, hatred once again launched a terrorist attack on our embassy in Washington, in an act of violence and powerlessness that could have cost valuable lives. We denounce it and we expect actions from US authorities,” the head of State wrote on his profile on the X platform, formerly Twitter.

Last night, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez informed that the Cuban diplomatic headquarters was the target of a terrorist attack by an individual who threw two homemade bombs known as Molotov cocktails.
